Yes, and it seems like just yesterday when I first took to the airwaves at Blog Talk Radio with a small audience which has grown past 90,000. From Wednesday at 9 pm to a daily podcast about the mystical, metaphysical, psychic, paranormal and spiritual, glad you took the trip with me. The journey continues.
Tuning in with Betsy's aim was to help guide people through challening times and it still is.
Decembe 20, 2006 I was joined by my friend Diane Linke for the inaugural launch of TIWBetsy.
And the rest is history as they say.

Being Frank December Appearance
I'll be shooting a segment on the Being Frank Show, on Monday, December 5th. I am happy, enthusiastic and excited. I'm a fan of the show and to be booked on one of my favorite late night talk shows is a super thrill for this Toronto gal. I'll be chatting with Frank about my book Being Mystic in Touch with God.
Frank D'Angelo is the host and an A-1 singer. Always entertaining that's Frank D'Angelo.

Say It Ain't So Joe Pa!
Unfortunately it is. I'm from Pennsylvania where Joe Paterno walks on water and is the Pope of Pa. Since Monday shock waves have been spreading out from Pleasant Valley, Pa. home of Penn State University and Beaver Stadium. An idyllic college town nestled in the mountains, it's been hit by the shock heard round the world.
This past weekend a retired football coach was named in a child abuse case/sexual assault that took place at Penn State in 2002.
Upon being informed of this event Joe Pa notified his higher up in the chain of command at Penn State. He did not notify the police.
Ten years later this lapse of judgment or lack of a moral compass has come home to bite Coach P on his butt. No one in Pennsylvania could ever imagine the day Paterno would not be coaching the Nittany Lions. Imagine it this Saturday because that is the day Joe Pa will not be pacing back and forth on the sidelines.
I was there New Year's Eve in Miami, Fla., 1973 when Penn State was in the Orange Bowl. It was fantastic to be young, broke and in downtown Miami rooting on Penn State with so many other northerners in town. Dionne Warwick was lip synching on her special float, but to me it was the Penn State mascot, dreassed up as the ever energetic lion that roared who strutted his stuff to PSU's marching band.
I had no money for a ticket to that game. But fast forward to New Year's Day 1979 when the 2 greatest college football coaches that ever have lived were meeting in New Orleans inside the Superdome. Bear Bryant and Joe Paterno. 'Bama kicked our butts that year, but now i can say Roll Tide with the best of them. It just didn't feel too good losing that afternoon but Time heals all wounds.
Yet another memory is of the 1968 bowl game when Penn State was losing terribly. I got so upset and disgusted I turned off the tv. I couldn't take it anymore. Imagine my surprise the next day to hear Penn State had won! I was in shock. Impossible! But true. Somehow they came from behind and won while Betsy Balega was making a late night snack in the kitchen in Shamokin, Pa.
And then there was 1972 when the New England Patriots offered Joe the job of head coach. He turned them down. I was shocked again. But I learned the power of college football in America.
One day you're the cock of the walk, the next day you're a feather duster.

Andy Rooney It Got Complicated He'll Be Missed
By now you know the 60 Minutes curmudgeon sucuumbed last night to complications from minor surgery. That is nothing new under the OR lights. It's very common for a patient to have minor surgery performed but to pick up a 'bug' in the hospital and have a more serious illness develop
which leads to their death. This is what happened in Rooney's case.
To say Andy Rooney was one of a kind is saying Frank's Hot Sauce is a 'litle bit hot.' When he got riled up he let loose on Sunday nights around 7:55 pm on CBS's 60 Minutes. He never disappointed.
Smart, witty, never afraid to complain about gadgets, gizmos, or anything else that annoyed him about these Modern Times, Rooney was informative, entertaining and my gosh, he made you think. Then, after a bit of thinking, you'd say, "Holy hell! He's right." He was right quite often.
Andy Rooney is a tough act to follow. His writing desk impossible to fill. He truly was one of a kind. A few years back someone sent me his essay on Women Over 40. By the time I was done reading it I would've bought him dinner at Le Bernadin for a year. That's how good it made me feel. He's made all of us feel good over the years.
Where is he now? Probably informing God Himself what to change down here on earth. And that's okay with me.

Mike James Killer Caught My Connection
It was a joy to pick up the Toronto Star today and see the 'alleged' serial killer caught here in Toronto. This marcisiistic 'rapper' who in mho is a sociopath thinks he'll beat the rap.
I think not.
My connection to this case is simple. Last year one of Mike James' friends came to see me and Mike came through loud and clear from the Other Side of Life, to tell his mother, his killer would be caught and brought to justice.
Congrats to the Toronto Police Dept. and the detectives working on this case.
You deserve a break today and you got it.
Well done is not enough.
Thanks for keeping delusional killers off our terrific Toronto streets.

Toronto joined in this past weekend. But, alas, leave it to Beaver (aka Canada) to split. If it's not Quebec, its a protest group. Does nothing stick together in this country except snowflakes?

Justice for Amanda Knox
4 years in an Italian prison is not the way I'd like to experience the Eternal City.
I watched the BBC's live broadcast in the wee small hours of the morning, 4:30 am edt,
of Ms. Knox pleading her case after her ex boyfriend, Raphael, pleaded his case be
overturned.
This judicial fiasco is just one example of how an innocent person can be tossed into
jail indefinitely when the clues and evidence don't add up.
In this case 2+2 did not = 4. Well, as a matter of fact it did, 4 years of an undeserved
sentence for Murder One.
Thank God the jury, mainly females, overturned the previous guilty to not guildty just a
few minutes ago.
Thank You God. There really is justice in this crazy world.
It may take awhile but stand up for what you believe to be right, true and unmistakebly,
irrefutably God's Honest Truth.
Hope Amanda Knox catches the first flight back home to the good old U.S.A.

Take 2. Yesterday the infamous studio switchboard, at Tuning in with Betsy, was acting as if it was starring in the remake of The Exorcist. No stand in needed.
My guest was to be vegan author, David Irving from Upstate New York .
Well Sleepy Hollow! The switchboard showed no number from Upstate New York.
In fact, it showed no numbers at all, included my own and I was broadcasting
which is impossible to do without my phone line from Toronto connecting to the number
in San Diego, and joining the central constrol station in New York City.
Who needs solar flares when the switchboard is in a snit.
Hopefully, the gremlins are gone and you can chat with David at 4:30 this afternoon.

What's Your Favorite Spiritual/Metaphysical Book?
Seems everyone I have met this summer is on their spiritual journey; from the Vietnamese Buddhist I met in Windsor, to the Catholic from Osaka, everyone is searching. We are all searching. Today on Tuning in with Betsy, my topic is What Is Your Favorite Metaphysical Book?

Yahoo/Rogers Jumper Photo of 9/11 Classless Uncalled For
Have you seen the photo that has been rotating on Yahoo Mail for the past 24 hours? It is
being called "iconic" by Yahoo. Iconic? I think of The American Flag, Apple Pie, Bing Crosby singing White Christmas, Times Square, Lady Liberty but NOT a photo of a man making his life and death decision to plummet to his death by jumping out of his office window at the World Trade Center on Septe,ber 11, 2001.
Why would Rogers Media and Yahoo ever use such a photo? It is enough to have seen such a scene on live tv, as I did, on the morning of September 11, 2011, but I have no desire to ever see this photo or any others in the same vein, again.
What aout this man's family? Friends? Wife and children? Or don't you care Yahoo and Rogers Media? You have reached the lowest of the low for brass, classless media bytes.
Anything for a story. Blood leads. Pain leads. Tragedy leads. But you Yahoo! and Rogers Media are at the bottom of the list of Class Companies. Richard Drew was the photographer.

Share Your Coincidences on Tuning in With Betsy 4:30
Coincidences are no coincidence. Today on Tuning in with Betsy, I will be taking your calls at 646-915-9574 to hear your true stories of coincidences.
Coincidence shows are the most popular at Tuning in with Betsy. I had a few coincidences this weekend at my book signing for Being Mystic in Touch with God, in Windsor, Ontario at Chaptes bookstore.
Thankfully, I schedule the signing for Saturday afternoon 1-4 and not on Sunday, which I had considered. Yesterday, just before 4 pm, a tornado, which started as a water spout on Lake Huron, decided it was time to jump off the lake and land on the land as a tornado.
Goderich, Ontario is now in a state of emergency. Churches, businesses, homes have been battered and scattered throughout the town which is called "the prettiest town in Canada." The civic pride is still there but it's time to give our neighbors to the SW of Toronto some compassion and caring. Coincidence shows are the most popular at Tuning in with Betsy. I had a few coincidences this weekend at my book signing for Being Mystic in Touch with God, in Windsor, Ontario at Chaptes bookstore.
Thankfully, I schedule the signing for Saturday afternoon 1-4 and not on Sunday, which I had considered. Yesterday, just before 4 pm, a tornado, which started as a water spout on Lake Huron, decided it was time to jump off the lake and land on the land as a tornado.
Goderich, Ontario is now in a state of emergency. Churches, businesses, homes have been battered and scattered throughout the town which is called "the prettiest town in Canada." The civic pride is still there but it's time to give our neighbors to the SW of Toronto some compassion and caring. Giving a monetary contribution to get Goderich back on its feet ain't a bad idea either. Check your local papers, radio and tv stations to see where you can send a contribution asap.

No More Kate Plus 8! Who Cares?
Certainly not moi. I was never a fan of the original 2 parent show with their 8 gosslings. And I never became a fan once Father Goose left. What always astounds me about reality tv is that people become 'famous' and the money flows as a given, doing what comes naturally. And no, I don't mean procreating. I mean tv cameras followed this couple around with their 8 children in tow, under all kinds of situations.
You and I do the same things, but are never recorded for TLC's ratings.
And hey! How bout those great free vacations. Used, I suppose to boost ratings. And the cross publicity on other TLC shows, when Kate rode a motorcycle. Her screech heard in the promo commercial is only second to Mary Murphy's the queen of screech on So You Think You Can Dance. Thank You Jesus for the remote at my fingertips.
And now there are none. Of course, you could all tell it was time to say nighty night. How much longer will the Cake Boss be around? Is there longevity in familia? For Kate Gosslein, apparently not. I'm surprised Kate never showed up at Carlo's Bakery for a birthday cake for her kids. Wouldn't that be a May/November Sweep ratings show.
Now what will she do? More importantly how are the kids going to adjust to real life with no cameras on them? We shall see if the Pa. lawmakers were right. Should be interesting.
And on another note, God bless Russell Armstrong. I had no clue who he was until I heard of his death last night on tv (of course). This is a prime example of the damage done of intruding cameras on people and their every move. His marriage went from the pebbles to the rocks. And now he will be underground, 6 feet under, at rest, hopefully, after a tumultuous last few months.
These are only 2 reasons why I am fussy about the television shows I watch.

Being Mystic Book Signing Aug.13 Chapters Guelph
I look forward to signing copies of my first book, Being Mystic in Touch with God, tomorrow, Saturday, August 13 at the Chaptes bookstore at the Old Stone Mall, 435 Old Stone Rd. West in Guelph, Ontario, from 12 noon - 6 pm.
Being Mystic is the book for you if you are trying to learn to meditate, relax, and detach from the hi tech world that surrounds us. Besides this tecky track that the world seems to be spinning on, there is a much calmer, peaceful, mystical world surrounding us. We have access to it every day (and night too). All we need is to let go of the tv remote, smart phones, iPads, notebooks and anything else that seems attached at your right hand. Or, if your a south paw, your left hand.
I challenge you to detach for one day a week to go sit in a park, take a trip outside of the city, to a nature preserve, or enjoy a visit to your local planetarium. If you don't have a planetarium, lucky you, go outside and look up. Your saving grace is at hand. It's the unseen world surrounding you and me, filled with so many cosmic mysteries that are a treasure from God Himself. (or Herself, if you're a radical feminist).
So until tomorrow, relax, let go of that gizmo and take time to breathe. Focus on your breathing and enjoy a sense of inner calm.

It came as no surprise on Tuesday, July 5th, that the verdict was Not Guilty. The key was confusing the apathetic jurors. And the defense did just that. And it seems like only yesterday that you were 100. That would be 1967, but so much more has happened since then. Expo 67 is just a happy memory. Remember those bright shiny 1967 pennies in a small glass bottle. Tres trendy back then. The geodesic dome still stands on the Isle of Montreal.
Ahh, fast forward 43 years. We have Royal visitors. They arrived yesterday. Yes! Canada is all a Twitter about Prince William and his mate the Duchess of Cambridge, Katherine. They certainly are the talk of the town (Ottawa) and of the entire nation (Canada) on this 144th Canadian Birthday.
Toronto had to settle for Katy Perry not the Royal Kate. No comparison. The latter made a fashion splash donning Canadian designer duds from the Queent Street West area of our great city, Toronto.
Class and style Mrs. Middleton-Windsor exudes them both. She's a hit with citizens and visitors alike, as is her husband, Prince William. William brought a roar of cheers when he spoke in French and then promised to improve his language skills. We don't mind. We parlez-vous our best and know there is always room to improve. We don't judge our guests. We're se polite up here in the Great White North.
Can't wait for the fireworks tonight. Always a good spectator sport for me.
The best thing about this long weekend? Getting to do it all over again on Monday for the 4th of July!

It's about time! The time has come and the Conservatives have spoken. MS trials are approved to begin in Canada. This is welcome news and long overdue. Several years ago the Liberation Treatment, used by Dr. Zamboni, of Italy was featured on CTV News. Dr. Zamboni uses a method of clearing the blockages in MS patients' jugular veins. He has had phenomenal success in Europe, beginning with curing his wife. Yes, I did say curing. That is not a typo.
Many MS patients have been forced to travel to India, Italy, Costa Rica and other foreign countries at their own expense. Costa Rica the fee is $13,000. India is around $20,000 and in Poland, it is in the $10,000 ballpark.
Now, Canadians will begin to get the health care they have been longing for.

June 24th is a holiday in Quebec, Ste. Jean Baptiste Day. If I had my way it would be a national holiday because Being Mystic in Touch with God is released tomorrow.
Instead of a rush of energy and excitement I am enveloped with a mantle of calm and happiness.
Like #9, the number of completion, June 24th represents closure and a new beginning. It's closure to months of anticipation and the beginning of events, talks, signings and meeting my friends and fans who are so generous with their support.
Thank you isn't enough.

Almost here! D-Day, Launch Day, Release Day of my book, Being Mystic in Touch with God. It's been an adventure in writing and an ever bigger adventure marketing my book. But, all in all, it's been a wonderful year. Yes, friends, books are not hatched over night, or in a month but carefully crafted with a wonderful publisher. In my case, it's O-Books, of the UK, who accepted my book proposal in February of 2010. I waited to sign and send it across the pond, until February 7, Charles Dickens' Birthday. Thought that was a good omen. A great writer. I can only wish to follow in his inked fingerprints.

Canada Post due back to work this week when the Federal government of Canada will order all posties back at their posts.

Being Mystic in Touch with God, my first book, launches June 24. Yesterday I received assistance from Melissa Mateuse and Lisa Winstantley, 2 wonderful staff members at Indigo HQ, on King St. West, in Toronto. I am so pleased that managers have been sent my request form for book signings in Chapter-Indigo stores in Ontario. Happier yet, when I received a reply of interest from Stoney Creek store #408 Heritage Green. I have many friends who assume that once you write your book your job is over, fini. Mais, non! It is just beginning. It's fantastic to write a book, but without word of mouth, and marketing you will end up with a warehouse of books gathering dust.
Writers must remember the P words. Persist, perseverance and promote.
Although the summer is looked at as the 'slow' time in the publishing world, i am grateful that Being Mystic in Touch with God is being released in the summer. It's much easier to get around Ontario in the sunshine than in mid-February. I am ok with the occasional rain. Occasional being the operative word.
To all my American friends and relatives have a sacred, blessed Memorial Day weekend.

Laughs at my friend's funeral today
The world has certainly changed since I was a kid. Toys turned into video games, the mini skirt has morphed into it's okay for the world to see your naked pics online and now there's laughter at funerals. When my Pappy died he was laid out at home and visitors came to my Nana's house into the wee small hours of the morning. That was the first time Betsy Balega ever stayed up till 1 am. Everyone spoke in hushed tones and were deadly serious, no pun intended. A far cry from the Newbiggings Funeral Home at 733 Mt. Pleasant Road today at 11 am when I joined my neighbors to say au revoir (till we meet again) to Lorrain Bourgois. Everyone was asked to share their happy, funny, great memories of Lorraine. I know that the fear of speaking in public is the #1 fear in most peoples mind/body and spirit. I decided to break the ice and get the stories started. I was followed by 3 others before Doug, Lorraine's oldest son gave us his memories of mum. They were all great stories and memories. Lorraine was something. We met 5 years ago and what I learned was she had patience, never judged, was giving, compassionate, caring and loved to laugh. We sointently did that today at her memorial service. It was wonderful to have laughter among the tears. As Shakespeare said, parting is such sweet sorrow. I used to tell my mom, "I cry at funerals because I can't go with them." The best part of today was knowing that at some future date in time there will be people, like those who loved Lorraine and laughed, to remember me someday and share my funny side. Until then take today and appreciate those people who are in your life. They are in it for a reason. And you are in theirs for a reason. Time is precious. Don't waste it. Now go out and make some marvelous memories to remember next winter.

Summer Forecast Edgar Cacye was Right
Rain has returned to Toronto and will be falling on the citizens and the GTA for the next 5 days. Many people are asking me about the flooding in the USA. Does anyone recall what Edgar Cayce predicted back in the late 20th century? It was that the Mississippi would double in width size and flood the cities and towns along its banks. Watching NBC Nightly News this past week, Brian Williams reported that the Mississippi, which is a mile and a half wide is now 3 miles wide. Exactly double in its width. Things that make ya go hmmmmm. Wacky weather is everywhere. No region on earth will escape it. Happy to hear that Environment Canada is predicting a hot summer for the city of Toronto this year. I'll take the heat any day or night. Someone asked me this afternoon if I think Aston C. will be a hit on Two and a Half Men. He'll bring in new viewers but the ratings gods will have the final say. Until then we'll just have to get through the long hot summer watching America's Got Talent. Enjoy!

Catholics around the world are familiar with the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal 94 years ago today. She appeared to 3 shepherd children, Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia, as they tended their flock of sheep. She returned each 13th day of the month giving warnings and predictions about world affairs, WWI and the coming days when both Francisco and Jacinta would soon join her and her son, Jesus, in heaven. The Virgin Mary gave the time that WWI would end, but also delivered the stern warning that if Mankind did not change its way there would be a second and more terrible war to follow. Sadly, her warning wasn't heeded and WWII began in 1939. There was a Third Message at Fatima, which was to be revealed in 1960 to Catholics at Sunday Mass. At the appointed time this revelation was not given. Catholics pondered then and through the following decades why the 3rd Secret of Fatima was not revealed. People speculated that Pope Pius XII read the secret and then died of shock. Neither Pius XII nor John XXIII ever made the secret known. It is no coincidence that Pope John Paul escaped an assassination attempt on May 13, 1981, 64 years to the day of Mary's first visit to the children at Fatima. Pope John Paul II credited Our Lady of Fatima with guiding the bullet through his body, missing vital organs by just fractions of an inch. After his recovery he made a pilgrimage to Fatima and on March 25, 1984, he consecrated the world, and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She had requested this consecration to ensure peace in the future. For whatever reasons, Pius XII and John XXIII dragged their feet at her request. Another one of Mary's prophecies was that if the world did not change its sinful ways entire nations would disappear in the future. Remember that the next time you see a wild weather report. Big 5 Oil - Newt Gingrich runs in 2012
When my podcast, Tuning in with Betsy, was in its infancy I booked Rick Tyler, the Communications Director for Newt Gingrich as one of my first guests. RT was a very busy man and had just 15 minutes to share his knowledge of what its like to work with the ex Speaker of the House. That ex Speaker now has his eyes on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Gee, elections are like Christmas, seems like it was just last month. In Canada, it was at the beginning of this merry month of May. Unfortunately in the USA the Presidential election begin 2 years prior to the actual election day. In Canada, the government can collapse whenever a leader decides to throw a hissy fit. Like a bully in the schoolyard, who always has to get his own way, is one of the reasons I stay away from Politics. The others are, i hate liars, cheats and thieves. Ok, I should never use the word hate, so I shall edit myself, and say I loathe, despise and can't stand the sight or sound of liars, cheats and thieves. Am I naming any particular politician? No, I am smearing them with the same paint brush. And if you think I am being Miss Meany today, just name 3 politicians that haven't been touched by scandal, kickbacks, marriage problems, additictins or bad press. There. I made my point. Do I think the Newt will win? No, I do not. And neither do I think Obama will have a repeat performance on election day, should he decide to toss his hat into the ring. I do think we will see the Republicans begin tossing their hats in a lot sooner than the Democrats. I think they are eager to return to their version of the status quo in Washington. On another note, I do love the fact that the Big 5 oil companies are due to be grilled like a peanut butter and banana Elvis Sandwich today in Washington. Why are they getting tax cuts, tax breaks, and every other monetary advantage, not to mention they are making billions of dollars every day, while the American people are getting screwed without experiencing intercourse? The only thing being exhausted after a wicked workout is the American peoples wallets. Canada is mirroring you on that point. On Tuesday the gossip was that a litre of gas would be going up 6 cents. Sure enough, as sure as Nostradamus predicted Hitler and WWII, Wednesday morning, gas rose, like Lazarus, exactly 6 cents. Then, on Wednesday the gossip was that the price of gas would fall 6 cents. Is this a freakin yo yo competition? How bleeping stoopid do these Oil Barons think we are? Gee, I can't wait for the antichrist to show up. We are being conditioned by Big Oil to be controlled, feel helpless and obey. Next thing ya know we'll have to get tatooed to get gas. Hmmm. A mark of the Beast? Nothing surprises me anymore. I wish you all peace, compassion and patience as the summer travel plans may be downsized. it should be Big Oil that is decreased not the American people's cash flow.

Arnold Maria Separation Predicted 3 years ago
I am often asked the pros and cons of being an accurate psychic. The pros are easy to point out, knowing when to dump certain currencies, knowing when not to go on vacation, knowing when an earthquake will strike, but the cons are seeing death of family and close friends, break ups and divorces whether they are friends or people I have never met. Arnold and Maria fall into that latter category. In 2008 I did a prediction show on Tuning in with Betsy and that was one of my forecasts. At the time I received an awful lot of negative e-mail. I hate to say I told you so, but I did tell you. Let's hope that this life change for Maria is a win-win situation with a return to Dateline in her future.

Niagara Falls Literary Festival
It's not even mid May and I can't wait till June. No, not just because my book, Being Mystic in Touch with God launches on Friday, June24th. I'll be heading to Niagara Falls throughout the joyous month of June, to volunteer at the Niagara Literary Festival. Lots of authors, events, readings and signings. Not to mention The Falls, the press, the vendors, publishers and new friends I'll be making. Events will be held not only in Niagara Falls, but also in Fort Erie, Welland and St. Catharines. The public library will be hosting events as well as The Grind coffee shop. But the venue I look forward to most of all is The Paris Crepes Bistro. A little bit of gay Paree in The Falls. Today while reading the Toronto Sun, I glanced at the This Day in History column. There was a familiar figure. I knew him instantly. No, not
Steven Tyler, Sitting Bull. It was on this day on May 5, 1877, that Sitting Bull entered Canada after being harassed by the U.S. 7th Cavalry after winning the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Gee, we Americans are such sore losers aren't we. We don't take losing lightly.
Buffalo in America, were like untainted salmon today, getting pretty scarce to find. So Sitting Bull headed north where he and his tribe enjoyed the herds that roamed Canada. Things were heavenly for 4 years but eventually this great spiritual leader made the fatal decision to return to the USA after being promised a life of prosperity back in the USA if he agreed to being confined on a reservation. He felt he had no where else to turn with the decimation of his people as they became ill and the disappearing food supply in Canada. Believing the PR fed to him by cavalry officers, Sitting Bull made Standing Rock, South Dakota his home. Being true to himself Sitting Bull met the Great Spirit after being murdered for practicing the Ghost Dance.

I did a very foolish thing this past March. It was a super bright, warm Sunday morning, and after Mass I put on the CBS show, Sunday Morning. It was so bright and sunny, I had to block out the sun which was pouring in through my windows. I couldn't see the people on the tv screen. Drapes weren't enough so I added aluminum foil, taped it to the windows to stop the glare of the sun. Yes, you read that correctly. I was not happy with that sunshine blinding me and hitting my tv screen like a Star Wars laser. Oh what a goof I was. Ever since I did the tin foil trick, the only thing pouring in Toronto has been rain. I think i jinxed the weather no matter what the Weather Channel says. I am guilty.
But, good news out of the weather forecast today. Environment Canada predicts, no, they state, it will be a hot, humid summer for Toronto. Thank You, God and mea culpa. I shall never ever tempt the fates of weather again as long as I shall live upon God's green earth.
Someone asked me this afternoon if I believe the weather czars in Canada. Hell yes I do. These are the same pundits who told me in the winter that Ontario would have a cooler than usual spring. And that prediction has come true to everyone's dismay.
So, if you are the type to abhor the 3 H Forecasts, Hot, Humid and Hazy get over it right now on May 4, 2011. Like The Temptations sang all those years ago, "Get Ready." And it can't come soon eonough for me!
I'll raise a toast to picnic ants, ants on a diet, mosquitos, horseflies, houseflies, bumble bees, the humble pesky fly (bless his buzzy little wings), and all things summer. I found 2 small black bugs in my home today. Neither one of them belonged where I found them. But deep down truth be told I was actually glad to see them. It's been a long cold lonely winter as George sang. Look! It's a bird, it's a plane, no! Here comes the sun! And the tin foil box is long gone!

USA Overshadows Canadian Election
Ever since Sunday evening the US networks have been broadcasting all the news every American has wanted to hear for the past 10 years: Ding Dong Bin Laden is laid to the bottom of the sea. Yeeha! But, north of 49 there was a federal election being held yesterday. You did NOT need a crystal ball to know the results. The more things change the more they remain the same and so it is in Canada today. Harper is still the prime minister. Of course he is. This is his third election, no surprise then that he won. The kicker this time around is that the red party is done like dinner, like a lame duck whose goose got cooked at the Broil setting. Then there is the orange party whose fearless leader was found at the Velvet Touch Massage Parlour (I am not making this up dear Yanks) in Chinatown back in 2006. Even that didn't stop his party from coming in a cool second. And so it is today in Canada. Did I expect anything to turn out differently? Hell, no. The result was so negative for the red party their fearless leader is set to resign today if he already hasn't. And the best news yet is that this is definitely an omen of what is to come to pass in October, 2011 when fearless premier of Ontario has also called an election. Provincial fearless leader of the aforementioned red party. OK smart arse, get your resignation ready to tender because you sure as hell aren't going to be re-elected. Can you feel the hatred in the province? It is palpable. You and your HST shall bite the dust. You and Iggy gotta get out of Dodge. One down, one to go. There is a God and I am thanking Him right now.

Hollywood couldn't have scripted it better. After 10 years, karma finally caught up with Osama bin Laden yesterday. Would anyone care to join me in the Halleluiah (Jesus) Chorus? There is a God. But, we Americans already know that. And during our darkest hours we know we are not forgotten, neither is every person who died in the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Whether they were American, Canadian, European, man, woman or child, you will never be forgotten. Whether you were NYFD, or NYPD, a financier, a waitress, a garbage collector you all mattered. And you always will.
Yes, it's been quite the celebration in the good 'ole USA since last night when spontaenous crowds gathered outside the White House, in Philadelphia (let Freedom Ring you old cracked Bell you), at the Phillies Mets game, in Times Square, at Gound Zero. We came, we sang, we cheered, and popped champagne.
I'm as happy as a pig in slop. I broke a building rule today. No decorations or flag of a country can hang from any window. Guess what? My building is named, The Americana. Is this a coincidence? I think not.
There is an American flag in one of the windows today.
To quote that American icon, Woody Woodpecker . . . Guess who?

Good Day for a Royal Wedding
What is it with we Americans? We fought for freedom from the British and now, 135 years later we can't get enough of them. We want accents like the British (remember Madonna magically acquiring a faux one after living in London for a month - talk about puttin on The Ritz). We want estates like the British, we want manners like the British (at least I'd like to be surrounded by people that have them, I don't think anyone texts during High Tea), we want quaint English cottages (how 'bout that Peter Rabbit's estate, Beatrix's heart and will were in the right place), we want British cars (Jaguars aren't just for the jungle), we want, we want, we want.
Being a perennial night owl I knew I'd have no problem being away at 4 AM. Forget the orange juice, coffee and croissant, give me a British Breakfast.
Was I watching Matt and Meredith on NBC? Or their CBS or ABC competition? Heavens no. I was glued to BBC-W since 11 pm last night. My ears after 5 years are used to their news every 30 minutes. Anderson Cooper won't do. It must be a bona fide journalist from the BBC to deliver my newscasts.
I always cry at weddings? Don't you? Yes, I got all misty and shed a few tears as the Spitfire Fly By went overhead at Buckingham Palace this morning. I always get sentimental and filled with emotions whenever I recall the only person Hitler feared, The Queen Mother, who stayed in London during the Blitz. She stood her ground and didn't back down. No shrinking violet was she.
Do I crave all things British? Well, I do dream of one item. Perhaps someday I'll have a marvelous balcony with a panoramic view. Prince Charming not included.
A girl can dream can't she?

Being Mystic in Touch with God to be featured in The Toronto Sun
It's getting closer to the launch date of my first book, Being Mystic in Touch with God. I am excited because Rita DeMontis, Life editor at the Toronto Sun, is reading my book as I type. She requested a copy of my book a few weeks ago and O Books speedily sent her a copy.Hope she likes it.
Besides Ms. DeMontis, Being Mystic is being reviewed by James Cox of the Midwest Book Review. Look for his review on Amazon.com. Vicki Thompson is reviewing for New Connexions, out of Oregon. Paul Salmon has also received a copy and will review it in his UK Magazine, Eternal Spirit Magazine.
